Energy Summit in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2022 held in Neum
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through the Energy Policy Activity, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the German government, the British Embassy and under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, the State Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Regulatory Commission for Energy of RS and the Regulatory Commission for Energy in FBiH organized the Energy Summit in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2022, from March 23-25, in Neum. This year the Summit was attended by 550 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Austria, Italy, Spain, Hungary and the United States, while about 350 participants followed the sessions online. The Summit featured six panels, eight technical workshops, a series of working group meetings and a number of side meetings. A special focus of the Energy Summit in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2022 was decarbonization or transition of the energy sector to clean energy, security of natural gas and electricity supply, the status quo and the changes in the energy market, the role of women in the energy sector and energy sustainability. Following high-level introductory remarks by the US, UK, UN, EU and German ambassadors and FBiH and RS Energy Ministers the participants discussed about the participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the fight against climate change and related challenges to the implementation of the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP).
