A Seminar about implementation of the Obligation Scheme for Energy Efficiency Sarajevo, October 5-6, 2021
Bosnia and Herzegovina use about 5 times as much energy to produce the same amount of GDP as most countries in Europe! This level of inefficient energy usage not only contributes to an already serious pollution problem, but also hampers the country’s financial ability to grow and progress within the energy sector.
Karl Wurster, USAID EDO Director, opened yesterday a two-days’ workshop that was organized by the USAID EPA and National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC).
The workshop focused on the Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme that has been developed through the cooperation of USAID and BiH government institutions and is designed to significantly improve the financing options for citizens for energy efficiency improvements. It will also open up to approximately 5.000 of new jobs and business opportunities for companies of all sizes within the energy and construction sector. It is our hope that the legislation needed to implement the EEO scheme is adopted so that BiH citizens can begin reaping the benefits of energy efficiency improvements in an effort to move to clean energy.
